Automated schema matching techniques: an exploratory study
Manual schema matching is a problem for many database applications that use multiple data sources including data warehousing and e-commerce applications. Current research attempts to address this problem by developing algorithms to automate aspects of the schema-matching task. In this paper, an approach using an external dictionary facilitates automated discovery of the semantic meaning of database schema terms. An experimental study was conducted to evaluate the performance and accuracy of five schema-matching techniques with the proposed approach, called SemMA. The proposed approach and results are compared with two existing semi-automated schema-matching approaches and suggestions for future research are made
RANS Equations with Explicit Data-Driven Reynolds Stress Closure Can Be Ill-Conditioned
Reynolds-averaged Navier--Stokes (RANS) simulations with turbulence closure
models continue to play important roles in industrial flow simulations.
However, the commonly used linear eddy viscosity models are intrinsically
unable to handle flows with non-equilibrium turbulence. Reynolds stress models,
on the other hand, are plagued by their lack of robustness. Recent studies in
plane channel flows found that even substituting Reynolds stresses with errors
below 0.5% from direct numerical simulation (DNS) databases into RANS equations
leads to velocities with large errors (up to 35%). While such an observation
may have only marginal relevance to traditional Reynolds stress models, it is
disturbing for the recently emerging data-driven models that treat the Reynolds
stress as an explicit source term in the RANS equations, as it suggests that
the RANS equations with such models can be ill-conditioned. So far, a rigorous
analysis of the condition of such models is still lacking. As such, in this
work we propose a metric based on local condition number function for a priori
evaluation of the conditioning of the RANS equations. We further show that the
ill-conditioning cannot be explained by the global matrix condition number of
the discretized RANS equations. Comprehensive numerical tests are performed on
turbulent channel flows at various Reynolds numbers and additionally on two
complex flows, i.e., flow over periodic hills and flow in a square duct.
Results suggest that the proposed metric can adequately explain observations in
previous studies, i.e., deteriorated model conditioning with increasing
Reynolds number and better conditioning of the implicit treatment of Reynolds
stress compared to the explicit treatment. This metric can play critical roles
in the future development of data-driven turbulence models by enforcing the
conditioning as a requirement on these models.Comment: 35 pages, 18 figure
The Clinical Efficacy of Yindanxinnaotong Soft Capsule in the Treatment of Stroke and Angina Pectoris: A Meta-Analysis
Objective. To systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy of Yindanxinnaotong (YD) soft capsule in adult patients with cardiovascular diseases (stroke and angina pectoris). Methods. We electronically searched databases including Medline, PubMed, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Cqvip Database (VIP), and Wanfang Database for published articles of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of YD capsule in treating stroke and angina pectoris. The meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.3 software. Results. 49 RCTs involving 6195 subjects with cardiovascular diseases (angina pectoris and stroke) were included. Compared with western conventional medicine (WCM) and/or other Chinese medicines, YD plus WCM therapeutic regimen could significantly improve the efficacy rate (RR = 1.21, 95% CI (1.17, 1.25), P<0.00001 for angina pectoris, RR = 1.24, 95% CI (1.18, 1.31), P<0.00001 for stroke), showing the clinical value. In addition, the therapeutic efficiency of WCM plus YD capsule regimen is better than that of WCM alone in improving CRP (MD = β2.07, 95% CI (β3.97, β0.17), P=0.03 <0.05) and TG (MD = β0.37, 95% CI (β0.52, β0.23), P<0.0001). Conclusion. YD is effective in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases (angina pectoris and stroke) in adults, and WCM plus YD therapeutic regimen can significantly improve the effective rate in the clinic
Experimental Realization of Br\"{u}schweiler's exponentially fast search algorithm in a homo-nuclear system
Compared with classical search algorithms, Grover quantum algorithm [ Phys.
Rev. Lett., 79, 325(1997)] achieves quadratic speedup and Bruschweiler hybrid
quantum algorithm [Phys. Rev. Lett., 85, 4815(2000)] achieves an exponential
speedup. In this paper, we report the experimental realization of the
Bruschweiler$ algorithm in a 3-qubit NMR ensemble system. The pulse sequences
are used for the algorithms and the measurement method used here is improved on
that used by Bruschweiler, namely, instead of quantitatively measuring the spin
projection of the ancilla bit, we utilize the shape of the ancilla bit
spectrum. By simply judging the downwardness or upwardness of the corresponding
peaks in an ancilla bit spectrum, the bit value of the marked state can be read
out, especially, the geometric nature of this read-out can make the results
more robust against errors.Comment: 10 pages and 3 figure
